There are a lot of words about Internet TV today, but mostly there are various opinions and predictions. In this article we will try to narrow the facts in form of pros and cons of the Internet TV and see that it can really give and what problems are related to it.

Pros
First of all the overall quality of the picture and the broadcasting is way better than the analogue TV. Technically digital TV is also capable of broadcasting more channels while using the same technical means as analogue. Cons
If the broadcasting is gone or some reason, it is gone. There is no way to switch to some back up satellite or get translation from some other place. Also if it is damaged the picture will fall apart in squares making the broadcasting impossible to watch.

Second problem is the financial side of this glorious invention. Today all the TV is going digital, but just like the mp3 killed the CD format, the Internet TV might kill the usual channels. In case of internet TV the main source of income – advertising is controlled by the broadcaster which means that the original channel might lose the largest part of the profit, because it won’t be a good platform for ads anymore. It already happened in the UK last year and today there is a great possibility that it can happen worldwide and the channels will either have to evolve for example by raising the license fee on broadcasting their shows. This adds a serious imbalance to the equation of the Internet TV. Nevertheless it will happen and most probably the viewers will still be able to get to see their favorite shows.
